Dear Sighetines – Maramures and their Families,
First and foremost I must thank you all for the overwhelming response we got from all of you. It’s so exciting to know that so many of you are planning to join the 70th Commemoration event. There will be people coming from North & South America, Australia Israel and Europe.
Attached please find the following forms – please have them completed in English as all people involved and volunteers read English rather than Romanian and Hebrew –thanks for your cooperation.

Do we organize a group trip from Israel & USA?
We suggest you make your personal traveling arrangements – flying into Budapest airport and a bus will be available at the airport on Thursday May 15 leaving at 10:00 a.m. and on Friday, May 16 leaving from the airport at 9:00 am. The ride from Budapest to Sighet is about 6 hours – providing enough time to get there B”H before Sabbath. The cost is $40 one way- pre-paid.

When is a bus leaving Sighet to Budapest?
This will be determined by the number of requests, when you complete the registration form. However we will make sure you leave Sighet whenever you need with a safe and well known bus company at a reasonable price.

What are the most popular Hotels in Sighet?
The following hotels are the best ones in the city prices are reasonable most offer breakfast for those interested, however I highly recommend that we make your reservations we know the distances and the quality of the Hotels.

Is there going to be Kosher Food?
Yes, for the Sabbath Meal (Fri. and Saturday) cost $70 US for both meals.

Do I need to register?
The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Sighet-Maramorish and the Jewish Community, however we ask you to please register and complete the attached form. You will need to show your registration tag to enter the programs. All programs are free including the play and the Klezmer Concert.

Would I be able to visit the City Hall Archives?
Yes, we are making arrangements that the City Hall Archives would be open on Sunday, May 18, 2014 and Monday May 19, 2014. I would highly recommend if you could be kind and complete the attached form prior so that we can get ready the materials you wish to find

Cemetery visits?
Friday May 16, Sunday May 18, 2014, you will be able to visit the cemetery – assistance would be provided to locate your loved ones

Is there going to be Simultaneously Translations?
There will be translations for most of the programs

What are the pictures, books and other items being used for?
An exhibit will be mounted of pictures of former Sighet residents Pre- Holocaust and pictures of how the families are today…books and other items will be displayed in the Ellie Wiesel Museum- please complete the Memorabilia Release Form

These meetings will give all of us an opportunity to meet and provide all forms and pay please (US currency cash – a receipt will be provided) for the bus and Kosher meals if required.
